The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) election campaign slogan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The AAP's slogan, "Sansad main bhi Kejriwal, tabhi Delhi hogi aur khushhal" (Only with Kejriwal in Parliament will Delhi prosper and be happy), was met with ridicule by the BJP, which suggested that the focus should instead be on addressing issues of "loot and bhrashtachar" (corruption).

Singer and BJP Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari further added his own version of the AAP campaign slogan, saying, "Sharab bechta Kejriwal, Dilli ko kardiya behaal; Dilli ki galliyan hain badhaal, jail mein hoga Kejriwal." Roughly translated, this means, "Kejriwal sells liquor, makes Delhi miserable; Delhi's streets are in bad shape, Kejriwal will be in jail."

The BJP's mockery comes amidst the launch of AAP's Lok Sabha campaign in Delhi. Addressing the gathering, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal emphasized the significance of the campaign launch, highlighting his efforts to improve the living conditions of Delhi residents. Kejriwal cited the provision of 24-hour electricity in Delhi as a testament to his administration's achievements, noting that only two states in the country, Delhi and Punjab, boast round-the-clock electricity supply.

However, Kejriwal also voiced his frustration with the central government and the Lieutenant Governor, alleging obstructionism in his efforts to implement beneficial policies for Delhi. He attributed this hostility to his status as a common man elevated to the position of Chief Minister by the people's mandate, emphasizing that the interests of Delhi's two crore residents are being undermined as a result.

The exchange between the Delhi BJP and AAP sets the stage for a spirited electoral contest in the capital city, characterized by competing narratives and contrasting visions for Delhi's future. As the Lok Sabha elections draw closer, both parties are expected to intensify their campaign efforts, seeking to sway voters with their respective agendas and promises for the city's development and prosperity.
